Living in Oxford
Since youβll be living as Englishmen and Englishwomen do, you will doubtlessly find a pub where you feel welcome and comfortable. Youβll call it, as the English do, your βlocal.β FYI: Pub culture doesnβt encourage or even allow excessive drinking.
Oxford is a real city and Trinity right in the middle of it. Across from the main gate youβll find small restaurants and shops. One block away is the cityβs pedestrian main shopping street, cobblestone Cornmarket Street.
Itβs a short walk to the bus station, train station, the public library, the Ashmolean and the University Museums, shopping malls, and dozens of other shops, restaurants, pubs and theaters. Within two blocks are a grocery store, a drug store, ATMs and several boutiques, gift shops and, yes, American fast food joints.
The University Parks, with miles of beautifully landscaped paths along the river, are nice for running, sunning or funning.
