An article by Dr. Richard Lee, a professor in the Jandoli School, appeared in AMP: American Musical Perspectives, an academic journal published by Penn State University Press.

Lee’s article, β€œNebraska Then and Now,” was part of a special issue of the journal devoted to Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 β€œNebraska” album. In the article, Lee writes that the America described in β€œNebraska” is much like today’s America.

He also suggests that hidden beneath the album’s themes of hopelessness and despair is a sense of resiliency that characterized America long before 1982 and continues today.
