An article by Dr. Richard Lee, a professor in the Jandoli School, appeared in AMP: American Musical Perspectives, an academic journal published by Penn State University Press.
Leeβs article, βNebraska Then and Now,β was part of a special issue of the journal devoted to Bruce Springsteenβs 1982 βNebraskaβ album. In the article, Lee writes that the America described in βNebraskaβ is much like todayβs America.
He also suggests that hidden beneath the albumβs themes of hopelessness and despair is a sense of resiliency that characterized America long before 1982 and continues today.
