SBU's Mackowski authors articles, joins discussion of his work

Dr. Chris Mackowski, professor of Journalism and Mass Communication, recently published a pair of biographical sketches in "The Commanders of Antietam," the newest publication from the Antietam Institute. The pieces highlighted Confederate generals Stonewall Jackson and the irascible D. H. Hill.

DeSimone named to board of trustees at Aquarium of Niagara

Dr. Kimberly DeSimone, professor and director of the master's in Leadership program, was appointed on Oct. 1 to the board of trustees for the Aquarium of Niagara (AON) and will head up the Diversity, Equity, Access, & Inclusion Committee.

Mackowski publishes article in Civil War Institute journal

Dr. Chris Mackowski, professor of Journalism and Mass Communication and associate dean of undergraduate programs in the Jandoli School, has an article in the 2025 edition of the Journal of the Shenandoah Valley During the Civil War Era, a journal published by Shenandoah University’s McCormick Civil War Institute.

New book chronicles the forgotten brutality of the Civil War’s Spotsylvania Battle

Chris Mackowski, a writing professor in ΒιΆΉΣ³»­β€™s Jandoli School of Communication, has written a new book, β€œA Tempest of Iron and Lead: Spotsylvania Court House, May 8–21, 1864.” The book, published by Savas Beatie, LLC, has already been chosen as a selection by the History Book Club.
